Many of GMs Light Trucks, SUVs and Vans in Latest Recall

About 1.77 million vehicles including SUVs, pickup trucks, and vans will be recalled by GM to replace their motor covers and windshield wiper circuit boards, said GM last week.

The purpose of the recall is related to the extension of the windshield wiper replacement program conducted by GM from 1998-2003. Previously repaired vehicles are exempt from the recall.

Owners of GM vehicles listed in the recall will be notified this summer. Faulty parts will be replaced and repaired at their local GM dealers, at no charge to the customer.

The recall will include some models of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban/GMC Yukon and Suburban SUVs, as well as the 1994-1997 Chevrolet C/K and GMC Sierra pickups. The 1995-97 model years of the Chevrolet Astro are also on the list with the GMC Safari mid-sized vans and Chevrolet/GMC full-sized crew cabs. The GMC Jimmy mid-sized SUVs and Chevrolet Blazer, years 1996-97, are also up for recall accompanied by the Chevrolet S10 and GMC Sonoma small pickups. In addition, the Isuzu Motors Ltd. Hombre small pickup is included in the recall.

Luckily no fatal injuries have resulted due to the faulty wipers.
