2010 Camaro is the Official Car of SEMA

Chevrolet has been selected as the official manufacturer of this year's SEMA aftermarket products exposition in Las Vegas (November 4th through 7th), and its 2010 model

year Camaro has been selected as the official car. What this essentially means is that the long-awaited performance machine will get the full, star-studded treatment; expect to see various “theme” tuned versions, and perhaps even a glimpse of Bumblebee from the upcoming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen movie.

General

Motors is already hard at work producing official accessories for the

upcoming Camaro, and will have a variety of grilles, wheels, spoilers

and a ground effects kit ready for when the car hits the market. SEMA

will offer a first glimpse at these components.

Another

possibility for the Camaro at SEMA is the launch of the long-awaited SS

version, slated to feature a supercharged version of the LS8

6.2-liter V8 producing in excess of 500 horsepower. This would not only

give it a head and shoulders advantage in straight-line performance over its nearest rival, the

Dodge Challenger SRT8, but the potential to eclipse the Shelby GT500

as well.

While the Camaro will certainly

be a highlight for the 2008 show, expect to see a lot of this year's

hottest cars show up in tuned form, including the new Lancer Evolution,

Impreza STi, Nissan GT-R, and others.

GM will likely

highlight accessories for its new Hybrid SUVs as well, plus the CTS-V and the SS

versions of the HHR and Cobalt.

Last year,

Toyota was named the official manufacturer of SEMA, and used the

opportunity to launch the new '09 Matrix and Corolla, while the Honda

Civic Si was the official “Car of the Show” for SEMA in 2005.
