Bentley and Bugatti Featured Marques at 2009 Pebble Beach Concours

This year's Pebble Beach Concours having been another roaring success, much thanks to all entrants who brought their

many and varied classics for display on the picturesque fairway next to the rocky beachfront below the clubhouse, and to the many manufacturers who took part as well, including Bentley and Bugatti, the latter of which unveiled the glorious Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, considered by many to be the highlight of the weekend. Now the organizers have announced their choice to celebrate the ultra-premium British and French marques at next year's event.

Bugatti will, little doubt, introduce a special limited version of one of  its models, now two-strong, and we hope, a peak at a rumored four-door Royale, while many of Ettore's classic creations will be on display in rarified fashion. The Mosheim, Alsace headquartered company was last featured in 2003, and holds the honor of having the most best of show winners of any make, with nine in total.

Bentley will bring its lineup of beautiful rides as well, highlighting its new Azure T. It's likely that the British marque will have something as yet unannounced

up its Brioni jacket sleeve too, a formula that's become popular from such super-brands at an event that hosts thousands of well-to-do car buyers.

Pebble Beach, along with a revived LA auto show, has become the bane of such auto shows as Detroit, which is losing highline brands due to poor local sales despite thousands of journalists on hand. Recently Ferrari, Land Rover and Rolls-Royce pulled out of North America's “premier” international auto show, and Porsche left last year. While not as many are in regular attendance, the Monterey, California weekend is attracting elite journalists from all over the world, due to new model launches from all the premium labels.

Other featured brands will include Zagato designs, responsible for some of the most beautiful and some of the most controversial designs in autodom's history,

while the 100th anniversary of Morgan will be celebrated. The Audi brand will also be highlighted, so expect some classic Auto Union silver bullet racers, and possible some other classics from DKW, Horch, Wanderer and Audi, of course, plus the  four-ringed brand's latest lineup and possibly something special as well.

If you'd like to be there, with your car, the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is already accepting entry applications for its 59th annual show to be held on Sunday, August 16, 2009. All completed forms are due back to the Concours by January 7, 2009, two months earlier than in previous years.

"The earlier time frame allows our Selection Committee to put together the very best field," said Concours Chairman Sandra Kasky Button. "By verifying and then confirming our field of entries as soon as possible, it will also be easier for our entrants – especially those outside the United States – to fully prepare and ship their vehicles. The number of applicants and participants from outside the United States continues to increase demonstrating that the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance has truly become 'the wo
