Kissing cousins that do component sharing better than the “Big 3”

I am rather proud of the Hyundai Motor Corporation. The Kia Rio5 and Hyundai Accent are proven little runabouts that are worth a look.

In a very short amount of time, Hyundai went from building a nearly laughable sub-compact, like the first generation Excel, to producing the current line of world contenders. Since the acquisition of Kia, the Hyundai Motor Corporation has been competing with and now beating many competitors’ products.

You’ll run out of talent before it runs out of grip!

Bold words I know, but you have to try this car. Usually, when I evaluate a car, I try not to delve into comparing it before I have had my way with it. Most periodicals/ publications immediately compared the 2008 WRX STI to the 2008 Lancer Evolution with mixed results. For the most part, the Evo was faster around the track by a bit, more toss-able and could be purchased for a little less with a lower base price.

It’s so fun; you’ll forget how frugal it is!

Sometimes, a gourmet steak sandwich is far more palatable than a hamburger. Both sandwiches are meat between bread and both satisfy hunger. The steak sandwich is more expensive and, generally superior in taste and satisfaction.

Some of you are old enough to remember the heyday of the family station wagon. These cars were the pinnacle of utility for their time. You could fit the whole family, the dog and a half eaten picnic (thanks to the dog) on your way to the beach. On your way home, you could sprawl out in the wayback with the dog while the sunburn puts you to sleep and the pound of sandwich meat the dog ate puts him to sleep. Gas was cheap, there were no enforced seat belt laws and station wagons were in every other driveway. Your wagon was usually American made with a big V8, rear wheel drive and weighed more than two VW vans.

There was a time when the PT Cruiser was the toast of the town. This was one of the cars to have. Using ingenuity, attention to detail and creativity, Chrysler appropriated components from the Dodge/Plymouth Neon and created a mini sensation in 2001. Seven years later, the little truck is beginning to fade out of the Chrysler line (yes, it is considered a “truck.” The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration considers the PT a truck – which helps to lower Chrysler’s overall truck MPG ratings).
