Canadian Auto Enthusiasts to Get 450-HP Audi RS 6 in 2004

Finally Canada Gets to Share in U.S. Super Sedan Wealth

According to Audi Canada, a division of Volkswagen Canada, the premium brands audacious 450 horsepower RS 6 sport sedan will now be available in north of the 49th parallel.

This is good news for affluent automotive enthusiasts in the frozen north, or U.S. citizens that keep a ski chalet in Whistler or Banff, as the super sedan, based on the more modest A6, was only available here in the United States, as far as North America is concerned, during the 2003 model year.

Just how affluent do these enthusiasts need to be? First of all Audi only needs to find ninety who want to take home one of the worlds fastest 5-seaters, all with expendable incomes that will allow CAD$109,000 (USD$84,627) for the purchase of a car - the RS 6 only costs $82,700 in the U.S.

Considering its limited numbers, the RS 6 could become collectible, and if recent stories about the model going out of production in the near future can be relied upon then the opportunity to own this Ingolstadt super sedan might be rare indeed.

Along with its 450 horsepower come 415 lb-ft of torque, derived from twin-turbochargers boosting the brands already impressive 4.2-L V8. Combined with a 6-speed manual transmission and quattro all-wheel drive the RS 6 is capable of achieving 60 mph from standstill in only 4.6 seconds.

The RS 6 is expected to show up first at the Montreal, Quebec auto show, followed by an unveiling at the Canadian International auto show in Toronto, Ontario.
