Cat on Cars: Madonna and Guy Ritchie Hit the Skids and Divide Auto Assets

The division of property has begun as pop icon Madonna and her filmmaker husband Guy Ritchie officially announced their intention to divorce this week.

And

while the battle over who owns which castle has just begun, the fight over who owns the luxury cars may already have been decided.

Ritchie was recently reported to have banned his wife from ever again driving their luxury sports cars because she is said to be an “appalling” driver. Apparently Ritchie was expecting a new sports car as a gift from his beloved for his 40th birthday this past September and, if so, there was no way he was letting mommy Madonna drive it.

As he told US magazine: "If she buys a fast car, she will not be a driver in it. No way will Madonna drive a fast car! She is an appalling driver."

The couple celebrated Ritchie's 40th birthday at The Punchbowl, a Mayfair area pub in London that the two own together and which will, undoubtedly, be among the assets to be divided. Madonna and the kids arranged for a low-key affair and joined the party until 10 pm when they all left together. Ritchie

returned shortly thereafter to continue in the revelry until 4 am where he and his mates were reportedly singing pub songs and making goofy faces for the cameras.

Actually I feel kind of bad for him, because instead of a getting a new car, he was told to hit the road. Happy 40th Guy.

Still, Ritchie can leave in style choosing from any number of luxury automobiles including a $95,000 Audi Q7, a $70,000 Mercedes Benz or their $120,000 Range Rover.  That is, of course, if he isn't being chauffeured around in a Town Car or limousine as he travels from castle to castle to pick-up the rest of his stuff. They also reportedly own a Maybach super limousine worth over $420,000, a Mini Cooper, A BMW 7-Series and an Audi A8. In fact, they own so many cars that Madonna apparently racked up 50 parking tickets the first year she lived in London - which only goes to show that not only can't she drive, she can't park either.

Rumors of the marriage hitting the skids is not new, especially since the Material Girl has been seen having a ball with Yankee's slugger Alex Rodriguez. In fact, A-Rod and Madonna were seen dining together just three weeks after Ritchie's birthday party at New York's Dos Caminos Third Avenue where they were reported to have been very cozy.

Seems Madonna doesn't believe in going slow, both in her personal life or on the road. But with a joint fortune close to $600 million, and apparently no pre-nuptial agreement in place, it seems that Madonna and Guy are no longer living on easy street. Let's just hope they can avoid the highway to hell.
