Designer Proposes New Volkswagen Brasilia
Eduardo Oliveira, the same budding designer behind the Volkswagen SP2 we showed you last month, has created yet another VW do Brasil retro update in the form of the Brasilia, a car that was also made solely for the Brazilian market and one that became extremely popular throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s.
His work was first shown on the blog Irmao do Decio, which features additional images of retro concepts inspired by models sold in the Brazilian market a number of years ago.
The “Nova Brasilia,” as the designer calls it, or translated “New Brasilia” finds much of its modern inspiration in the concept Audi A1.
The front bumper pays homage to the New Beetle as well, whereas the rear of the New Brasilia appears inspired by the latest Scirocco.
If Volkswagen do Brasil were to produce an updated version of the much loved Brasilia it would follow a retro trend the automaker started with its New Beetle and nearly followed up with its Microbus concept.
Currently the Brazilian market produces a retro vehicle many outside of the country might love to get their hands on, the Kombi, which is basically the same ‘70s era Volkswagen van that epitomized flower power in the days of the “make love not war” mindset. That in mind, a resurrected Brasilia doesn’t seem all that much of a stretch.
