Despite Economy Dodge Viper ACR Sold Out
Normally it’s fairly easy to predict which cars will do well in bad markets stung by high fuel prices, but there’s always the odd anomaly that shakes up the status quo.
Chrysler LLC is suffering through some challenging times right now, with sales off some 32-percent compared to this time last year. But it’s no fault of its Dodge Viper supercar, achieving strong sales despite a drop in all of the automakers other segments.
Sales of 100 units per month aren’t high enough to make a dent in Chrysler’s woes, however, but its new track-spec ACR (American Club Racer) is the only vehicle from the Chrysler family to completely sell out.
Oddly, however, the poor economy is reportedly the reason why ACR sales are so strong. As investors are diving out of the markets and real estate nowhere near its basement, they’re looking for somewhere to put their money. The potential for the Viper to be discontinued gives it a high expected resale value, and in the eyes of some, a ripe investment opportunity… that pays thrill-a-minute dividends immediately.
