Ford Sharpens Edge's Looks with New Sport Model

Ford's Edge has just been sharpened – at least as far as styling is concerned.

The Edge will gain a new Sport model starting this year that gives America's best-selling crossover vehicle a sportier look.

The Sport package is completely aesthetic, offering no gains over the current 265-hp rating of the 3.5-liter V6. It does, however, gain a full body kit that's painted in body color rather than the standard gray in regular Edge models. Other accessories include chrome-plated exhaust tips, smoked taillights and dark tinted windows, plus standard 20-inch alloy wheels. These can be upgraded to 22-inch rims, the largest diameter production wheel ever fitted to a crossover by a manufacturer.

The sporty theme continues into the interior, with reupholstered seats that

feature suede-like inserts that contrast the bolstering and headrests. Also new is etched metal-like trim used to accent the dash, console and door panels. The Sport will be available with all the toys that the SEL and other models can be had with, including the Vista panoramic sunroof, navigation system, plus the Microsoft-developed Sync voice-activated multimedia system.

The Edge Sport looks like a slick ride – hopefully down the road, Ford will fit it with their highly advanced twin-turbocharged Ecoboost GTDI engine to deliver more performance.
