The Ford Motor company was launched in 1902 and is the largest family-controlled company in the world today. Having recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, the Ford motor company has survived many hardships including two world wars, the Great Depression (one of the few remaining companies to endure that period) and the death of its founders, initial investors and many great leaders over the years. Ford as a company is responsible for many innovations hat helped to keep it profitable and one leap ahead of the competition in the early years of its operation. Henry Ford was the first automaker to pay his workers extraordinary wages and cut their work hours to 8 per day and 5 per week. Though scoffed at by the markets and other business leaders, the results of these steps were drastically increased production and reduction in employee turnover resulting in significant savings to the company.
