600,000 Toyota Sienna Minivans Recalled (1998-2010)
When will the bad luck end, or at least slow down, for Toyota Motor Corp? The company announced today that it will recall 600,000 Toyota Sienna minivans that were sold in the United States. Apparently, there is a risk for corrosion of the spare tire carrier cable.
Road salt added to roadways due to winter snow and ice can cause the carrier cable to rust, and eventually break. If this were to happen, the spare tire would fall from the undercarriage of the vehicle a pose a risk to other vehicles. Toyota has not mentioned whether they expect this to affect their customers cheap auto insurance policies.
The recall is said to affect 1998-2010 model year Siennas operated in cold climates. To date, only six complaints have been filed with the government.
Two-wheel-drive Sienna minivans sold in the following states are the only vehicles in the being recalled thus far:
