Lexus Sporty LF-C Concept Headed for the Big Apple
Could the LF-C Concept be the Next SC 430?
After running through sedan and sport utility concepts, the next body style in the Lexus prototype cycle is a sports coupe. That unveiling will take place this week at the New York International Auto Show, as the LF-C sports luxury concept.
Lexus claims that it is a passionate design, which can be observed here in the companys preliminary sketches. Highlighted fenders and faceted edges, as well clear-cut angles, highlight the sporty look the automaker is attempting to achieve, a sharp contrast to the curved shapes of its current products.
Powering the LF-C is Lexus high-performance 4.3-liter V8 engine, currently featured in the SC hardtop convertible and GS/LS midsize and full-size luxury sedans. The engine is well respected for its responsiveness, refinement and reliability. It is expected to deliver at least the same 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque that it produces in its other iterations, putting it on par with luxury coupes like Jaguars XK.
Just as the LF-S sedan influenced the next generation GS sedan, is it possible that the next generation of Lexus SC could be rooted in the LF-C concept? Well all just have to wait and see if the LF-C is merely a concept or possibly a prototype of a future model.
