New Nissan to Look Like Intima Concept?

With the unveiling of the new Nissan Maxima a little over a week ago in

New

York, it is now time for the brand to unveil other versions of its

range-topping sedan. While the Maxima used to be a global car, sold in

Europe and Asia, it's now North American specific. In other markets Nissan sells a

slightly reworked version of the Maxima called the Teana. It's

essentially a more conservative looking, more luxurious and less sporty

version of the car.

Besides

its home market of Japan, one of the biggest markets for the Teana is

China, which is why Nissan has chosen to launch the new generation of

this model at the Beijing auto show later this month.

A

few shots of the car half-draped in cloth have found their way onto the

web, and they show a very dramatic change from our Maxima. It looks as if

Nissan has adapted their Intima Concept for production, one of their stars at last

year's Tokyo Auto Show, complete with the same long rear

overhang and sleek, flowing

bodywork. The Intima concept is a stunning

looking sedan, which bodes well for the production car if Nissan is

able to keep the design close to the concept. The Teana is also

expected to make the move to the D-Platform from the FF-L architecture it

currently uses.

By increasing the style

quotient of the new Teana, as well as the general increase in the

quality of its products, Nissan could make serious headway in the

premium sector of the Chinese market, which is especially important and amongst the fastest growing segments in the country.
