Nissan Reveals that New Maxima will be a True 4DSC
Nissan has just unveiled the first teaser shots of its next generation 2009
Maxima, and one of the most interesting things about it is the return of a specific acronym. 4DSC, as seen on several of these official photos isn't a watermark, but a tradition. Twenty years ago, when Nissan launched the third-generation Maxima, it coined the term 4-Door Sports Car due to the Maxima SE's performance and sporting capabilities. This is looking to be the motto for the new '09 car.
Although it would be great – especially for enthusiasts – to see the Maxima shrink back in size and weight to where it was 20 years ago, offer a manual transmission as well as a limited slip differential, these changes are unlikely. Today's Altima already eclipses that particular generation of Maxima in all dimensions, and seeing as the Maxima will remain the brand's halo sedan for North America, the new Maxima is more likely to stay the same size, if it doesn't grow larger.
