Upcoming Bio-Fuel Bentley Super Coupe to make 630-hp!
For an exclusive ultra-luxury automaker, Bentley makes a lot of different models. In its “entry-level” Continental lineup,
it offers a sedan, a coupe and a convertible, dubbed Flying Spur, GT and GTC, with special “Speed” versions of each, making for six distinctive models at the “lower” end. Above these Bentley offers its Arnage, Brooklands and Azure, with higher performance “T” versions of each except for the Brooklands which comes standard in top performance trim. Yes, that makes a total of eleven unique models for a company that sold fewer than 8,000 units last year.
So, why not add another one for an even dozen? On the back of its beautiful Continental GT, Bentley is planning a super coupe above the much vaunted Speed version, which already produces a heady 600-horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque from its 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12. The new model, a bio-fuel variation, will make a reported 30 additional horsepower for a total of 630! A completely clean 630-horsepower, that is, with enough torque to scoot the hefty luxury coupe to 60 mph in just under 4 seconds – the regular Continental GT Speed hits the 60 mph barrier in 4.3 seconds and runs clear to 203 mph. Yes, the new car should even be faster.
Reports on the new Bentley super coupe state that the rear seats have been removed to save weight, improving performance and lowering emissions. Normally, the rear seats are swathed in full hides, surrounded in solid wood and metal accents and other hefty goodies, so the amount shaved off will probably be substantial. Then again, the Continental GT Speed is hardly a lightweight, hitting the scales at 5,180 lbs, so even paring off a couple of hundred pounds won't exactly have it feeling comfortable in a Brazilian bikini. Then again, if it's anything like the GT Speed, and it should be even better, it'll be capable of pulling transitional moves off like Larissa Franca and look almost as good doing it.
The new super coupe will be introduced in Geneva next month.
